Linus (Ubuntu?) Flash drive purchase?

My old laptop is having problems and CD discs. Can I buy a flash drive open preloaded with Linux, which prevents the disc? I realize that would be slow, but I just want it to work. If you know of a specific vendor, that would be great. Thanks

You can find a (LUG Linux User Group) in your area here: http://www.linux.org/groups/ Once you find a group to go to, you can probably get one to load a flash drive for you and help with some of the rest of your computer probs. My LUG has been invaluable to me! And you can participate in the Ubuntu forum here: http://www.ubuntu.com/ and ask them. Actually, for something smaller as a flash drive Puppy Linux, or another version DamnSmallLinux Linux is very light, probably be better off in a flash drive. Find out here: http://distrowatch.com
